This article provides information how to configure Network Time Protocol (NTP) on an ESXi host using the vSphere Web Client , ESXi web client and in vSphere Client
Resolution
To configure Network Time Protocol (NTP) on an ESXi host using the vSphere Web Client (Flash and Flex client):
Log in to the vCenter Server using the vSphere Web Client.
Select Hosts and Clusters.
Select an ESXi host.
Navigate to the Configure tab.
Under System, select Time Configuration.
Click Edit.
Select Use Network Time Protocol (Enable NTP client).
Click Start.
For the NTP Service Startup Policy, select Start and stop with host.
On NTP Servers, insert the NTP server(s) you want to use.
Click OK.
In vSphere Client(H5)
Log in to the vCenter Server using the vSphere Client( H5 Client).
Select Hosts and Clusters.
Select an ESXi host.
Navigate to the Configure tab.
Under System, select Time Configuration.
Click Edit.
Select Use Network Time Protocol (Enable NTP client).
Click StartNTP service
For the NTP Service Startup Policy, select Start and stop with host.
On NTP Servers, insert the NTP server(s) you want to use.
Click OK.
To configure Network Time Protocol (NTP) on an ESXi host using the ESXi Web Client and ESXi UI client
Go to https://[esxi ip] and log in with the root credentials.
In the upper left, click Manage.
On the System tab, click Time & Date.
Click Edit Settings.
Click Use Network Time Protocol.
Change the service startup policy to Start and Stop with Host.
