How to Upgrade an EDR Server to the Latest Version

Issue/Introduction

To upgrade an on-prem EDR server to the latest version.

Environment

  • Carbon Black EDR Server: All Supported Versions

Resolution

  1. Create an authentication token and download the latest installer repo package. Authenticate to Packages Repository
  2. Follow the instructions to download and run the generate_cbserver_repo.sh file. 
  3. Stop the services: How to Start, Stop and Restart EDR Application Services
  4. Clean the yum cache 
    yum clean all
  5. Run this command to update the rpm library. 
    yum update cb-enterprise
  6. Run this command to finalize the upgrade process. 
    /usr/share/cb/cbupgrade
  7. For Clustered instances, copy the /etc/yum.repos.d/CarbonBlack.repo file to the minions. Repeat steps 4 - 6 on each minion node. 
  8. Start the services at the end of the cbupgrade completion by selecting yes, or manually start. How to Start, Stop and Restart EDR Application Services
