Issue/Introduction

How to change the port or name of the parent Notification Server in a hierarchy without breaking it?

Environment

ITMS 8.x

Resolution

Starting from ITMS 8.1, you can edit the Notification Server name and port in the Symantec Management Console, on the Servers page, under Hierarchy and Replication.

Follow the steps below to change the port or name of the parent Notification Server:

  1. Stop all replications.
  2. Edit port or name of the parent Notification Server on parent Notification Server as follows:
    • In the Symantec Management Console, on the Settings menu, click Notification Server > Hierarchy.
    • In the left pane, under Hierarchy and Replication, click Servers.
    • On the Servers page, click the parent Notification Server, and then click Edit icon on the toolbar.
    • In the Update dialog box, edit the port and/or the name of the parent Notification Server, and then click Update.
  3. On the parent Notification Server, restart Altiris Service.
  4. Run differential replication from parent Notification Server to all its child Notification Servers.
  5. On parent and on child Notification Servers, in the Symantec Management Console, on the Servers page, check if the name of the parent Notification Server is correct.
  6. Also check that nodes have correct names on parent and on child Notification Servers, by clicking Edit on each node.
