Issue/Introduction

When developing custom reports, you may experience server connection issues when Jaspersoft Studio is configured to go through a proxy.
The settings are available. However, Studio is unable to make a connection to the server.

Environment

Jaspersoft Studio all supported release

Resolution

  1. Be sure the ROLE_ADMINISTRATOR right is provided. See documentaion Set Up the JasperReports Server Connection
  2. Studio makes a connection to JasperSoft Server via HTTP/SOAP or REST.   You must configure Studio the same way you have configured your browser to hit reporting server URL.
Workaround: If you cannot configure your proxy settings at this time, you may configure the client where there is no proxy or add a firewall bypass rule and it will work.

Additional Information

To configure the Jaspersoft proxy settings

  • Window > Preferences > General > "Network Connections"
Your IT team should be able to advise on the proxy settings needed
