Issue/Introduction

Description:

The setup of STAM looks more complex than it really is. This TechDoc will hopefully simplify the setup between STAM and VM:Tape.

Solution:

Example of a 3 system setup:

  1. Use a unique 4 (or less) character string for each system as SMFID.

  2. Use the selected SMFIDs in the VMTAPE CONFIG file and STAMPARM file. Don't bother trying to create any relationships between the chosen SMFIDs and, for example, the entry for that system in the SYSTEM NETID file ... that is completely optional.

One SID record in your STAMPARM file is needed:

 	SID JHAA,JHBB,JHCC

Each VMTAPE CONFIG file on the 3 systems will contain the corresponding information for that system in it's STAM parameters:

*-------------------------------------------------------------------* * System: JHAA VM:Tape (R) STAM Controls * *-------------------------------------------------------------------* SMFID JHAA STAM AUTO SMFID JHAA DISK 1AA STAMPARM VMTAPE STAMPARM A
