Ways to tell what release of CA Common Services for z/OS is running

 

Environment

Common Services for z/OS
Release 14.0, 14.1, 15.0 

Cause

Need to know for support to provide necessary maintenance to customers  

Resolution

To check the installed release CA COMMON SERVICES:

  1. Browse the CA COMMON SERVICES CAW0LINK LIBRARY
  2. Browse the member CAS9GLVL
  3. Do a find for 'CAIRIM'

    The release will be displayed e.g.

    • For CA Common Services r14.0, you will see:

CAS9E00 ~RMID(RESERVE)~ 20110327 18.56 .......CAIRIM    R14.0

    • For CA Common Services r14.1, you will see:

CAS9E10 ~RMID(RESERVE)~ 20120217 06.14 .......CAIRIM    R14.1

    • For CA Common Services r15.0, you will see:

CAS9F00 ~RMID(RESERVE)~ 20180507 16.23 .......CAIRIM    R15.0


To match the above with what can be found in the SYSLOG:

Reviewing the system log from the IPL, do a find for 'CAS9075I'...

CAS9075I - SERVICE(CA-RIM/BASE ) VERS(1400) GENLVL(E000AS900)   ==> where 'E' is 14 in hex, thus E000 represents v14.0

CAS9075I - SERVICE(CA-RIM/BASE ) VERS(1400) GENLVL(E100AS900)   ==> where 'E' is 14 in hex, thus E100 represents r14.1

CAS9075I - SERVICE(CA-RIM/BASE ) VERS(1500) GENLVL(F000AS900)   ==> where 'F' is 15 in hex, thus F000 represents r15.0
