Issue/Introduction

When attempting to access the Java Alert Monitor and Status Monitor applications from CA OPS/MVS WebCenter releases 12.2 or 12.3 with MS Internet Explorer (IE) 11.0 and Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.8, you may get this warning message:  

Warning:Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 1.4.1 or greater to be installed.

CA OPS/MVS WebCenter releases 12.2 or 12.3 MS Internet Explorer (IE) 11.0 Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.8

Resolution

Correct the JAVA settings.

  1. Look in your Windows Control Panel and click on the Java icon or program name to open the Java Control Panel

Set JAVA to not save temporary files.

  1. Click on the Settings… button to display the Temporary Files Settings window.
  2. Uncheck the keep temporary files on my computer check box.

 

Check and set the Java Runtime versions.  

    1. Click on the Java tab. Click on the View… button to display the Java Runtime Environment Settings.
    2. Confirm the supported Java Runtime program release is listed and enabled by the check in the Enabled check box.
    3. Click OK or Cancel button to close the window.

Now, check and set the JAVA security settings.

  1. Click on the Security tab and check for the following:
    1.   The Enable Java content in the browser check box is checked
    2. The Security level for applications not on the Exception Site list selection is High.
    3. The Exception Site List contains your server system’s URL. i.e. http://xxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx.com:8080. Click the Edit Site List… button to add your entry if it is not listed.
  2. Click the OK button to close the Java Control Panel and save the setting changes.

Additional Information

If your CA OPS/MVS WebCenter is active, you should do the following to obtain access to the Alerts and Resources:

  1. Enter the application URL (http://<your application url> / like https://xxxxxxxX.xxxxxxxx.com:8080/) in your Internet Explorer browser
  2. Press enter; you should be presented with the screen below
  3. Enter your User Name and Password and click the Log In button
  4. You should then be displayed  the main screen for the CA WebCenter Menu.
  5. Click on Monitoring and Resources. You will be presented with a dialog box asking "Do you want to run this application?"
  6. Click the "Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above" check box and click on the Run button. 

You should then be displayed the main screen for the CA WebCenter Menu.

  1. Click on Monitoring and Resources. You will be presented with a dialog box asking "Do you want to run this application?"
  2. Click the "Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above" check box and click on the Run button.
