Issue/Introduction

I am trying to apply PTF maintenance and the SMP/E APPLY fails with CC=08 and messages GIM54701E and GIM65903I trying to allocate an SMPTLIB dataset which no  longer exists.

The error messages are:

GIM54701E ** ALLOCATION FAILED FOR SMP00016 - IKJ56228I DATA SET DATACOM.CADQE00.F3 NOT IN CATALOG OR CATALOG CAN NOT BE ACCESSED.

GIM65903I    MODULE DDADGPR IS NEEDED TO BUILD THE FOLLOWING LOAD MODULES FOR SYSMOD RO38253 BUT THE SMPTLIB DATA SET COULD NOT BE ALLOCATED.

Resolution

It is looking for the SMPPTS because the base FMIDs have not been accepted. Do a query on the FMID, in this case CADQE00, if it is in APPLIED status you need to run an ACCEPT on the FMID.

Before doing the ACCEPT restore the SMPTLIB dataset from a backup.

If there is no backup, rerun the UNZIPJCL that was run during the install to recreate the SMPTLIB files from the original PAX file that was downloaded. Then run the ACCEPT.

You should ACCEPT all of the Datacom FMIDs that you have applied before applying any maintenance. Here is a list of the Datacom FMIDs:

CBAPx00 /*CA Datacom Fast Restore */

CABDx00 /*CA Datacom/DB */

CAADx00 /*CA Datacom Datadictionary */

CADQx00 /*CA Dataquery for CA Datacom */

CAVEx00 /*CA Datacom SQL */

CAZNx00 /*CA Datacom Presspack */

CAADx05 /*CA Datacom Datadictionary */

CADQx05 /*CA Dataquery for CA Datacom */
