Support for Dell PowerFlex SDC in VCF 9.0 and VVF 9.0

Issue/Introduction

Support for Dell PowerFlex utilizes a proprietary approach called SDC (Storage Data Client). It has been determined that the current SDC must be deprecated due to use of private kernel APIs. As a result, the current SDC will be deprecated in VCF 9.0 and VVF 9.0.

Resolution

Broadcom and Dell have agreed upon a non-proprietary approach for a new SDC that will be compatible with VCF/VVF 9.0. The new SDC will be generally available in a future release.

Limited availability may be considered on a case-by-case basis for customers desiring PowerFlex support with the current SDC in VCF/VVF 9.0. Such customers should contact their Broadcom representative for further guidance. Support for the current SDC in VCF/VVF 9.0 will only be provided to customers who have been approved for limited availability.

Support for Dell PowerFlex SDC in vSphere 8.x, VCF/VVF 5.x, and other older supported versions remains unchanged.
