Cause

There is a limitation in TRSMAIN. The job to compress the file runs with zero condition codes. The error occurs on the unpack job.

Resolution

Before data is tersed, ensure the record format is either:

1. RECFM=VBS or 
   
   
2. RECFM=VB and LRECL=32756.

Either will work, as SMF never cuts a record larger than 32,756 bytes. And TRSMAIN won't complain if the original file was spanned.
