Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to take a snapshot of VCF Operations for Logs / VMware Aria Operations for Logs from vSphere.

Environment

  • VCF Operations for Logs 9.0.x
  • Aria Operations for Logs 8.x

Resolution

  1. Login to the vCenter UI
  2. Locate the Operations for Logs Primary node.
  3. Right-Click on the  Primary node and select Snapshot > Take Snapshot.

  4. Enter a Name and Description for the snapshot.
  5. Uncheck Snapshot the virtual machine's memory check box.
  6. Uncheck Quiesce guest file system (Needs VMware Tools installed) check box.
  7. Click Create.

  8. Repeat steps 2-7 on all remaining nodes of the Operations for Logs cluster

Note:

Remove all snapshots as soon as they are no longer needed.

Snapshots existing for longer than 72 hours will cause performance issues. Check Best practices for using VMware snapshots in the vSphere environment for more details.
