Issue/Introduction

We have configured the Benefit Plan Detail and Cost Plan Detail Object to have some attributes enabled for Audit Trail.  When we go to the Audit tab on the Cost Plan, we get an alert message indicating we have not configured any attributes for audit trail.  Why do we see this message?

Alert:ODF-0800: No attributes were selected for auditing. Contact your administrator.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Login to the application as an Administrator
  2. Navigate to Administration, Studio: Objects
  3. Open the 'Cost Plan Detail' Object and navigate to the 'Audit Trail' tab
  4. In the section 'Attribute Audit', we selected the attributes 'Cost' and 'Units' to audit when changes occur
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and enter in 90 for 'Days after which audit records will be purged'
  6. Click 'Save and Return' button
  7. We go into our Cost Plan and on the Cost Plan Detail page, we enter updated information for the 'Cost' and 'Units' TSV cells and save the changes
  8. Now we want to see the Audit TSV data, so we click on the 'Audit' tab and immediately see the following alert error :
  9. Repeat same steps for the 'Benefit Plan Detail' object and we get the same alert error message

Cause

The Alert message is generated because the 'Audit' tab is on the parent 'Cost Plan' object.  This message indicates that there are no attributes on the 'Cost Plan' object that were selected for auditing.  This behavior is expected for any parent/child object relationship.  The page where the audit trail records are displayed is at the parent object level.  Therefore, to use the page at the parent level, you need to have at least 1 attribute enabled for audit at the parent level.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to enable auditing on at least 1 attribute on the parent object.  Repeat the steps for any other parent object for which you need to see sub-object audit trail records.

  1. Navigate to Administration, Studio: Objects, and open the parent object 'Cost Plan'
  2. Navigate to the 'Audit Trail' tab
  3. Pick at least 1 attribute for auditing when changes occur
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and enter in a valid number for 'Days after which audit records will be purged'
  5. Click 'Save and Return' button
  6. Navigate to the Cost Plan referenced in previous steps where you want to see the Cost Plan Detail audit records
  7. Click 'Audit' tab and see the alert message no longer appears and the page is rendered with a filter option to pick a subobject
  8. Pick the 'Cost Plan Detail' subobject and click 'Filter' button
