How to collect logging for interface data issues in CA Performance Management

Issue/Introduction

How to collect logging for interface data issues.
 

Environment

CA Performance Management

Resolution

1. Go to Administration -> Monitored Devices and select the device with the interface problem.



2. Click the “Polled Metric Families” tab and highlight the “Interface” metric family.



3. In the Interface Components, click the drop-down icon in any of columns to add the ID column as below:


4. Take note of the ID of the interface we want to troubleshoot from in the step 3 above;



5. Browse to the DC Debug page at http://<IP address of the DA>:8581/dcdebug



6. Click on “Enabled/Disable” link under “Detailed Poll Logging by IP” as below:


7. In the “Data Collector Enable Poll Debug Logging” page, type the IP address of the device, select “Item IDs” from the Filter By field and type the ID you took note from step 4 in the ID List field, check the option “Enabled Poll Logging” and click the “Enable Polling” button. For example, for device IP 192.168.0.210 and ID 11123, the screen will look like as below:

 



8. Once you enable, you should see the following message:





Successfully enabled poll logging for <IP Address>



Search only for Item ID:11123



9. Browse to the DC Debug page at http://<IP address of the DA>:8581/dcdebug



10. Also enable detailed SNMP logging by IP:


11. In the “Data Collector Enable SNMP Logging Debug” page, type the IP address of the device, select the appropriate IP Domain, check the option “Enabled SNMP Logging” and click the “Submit” button. For example, for device IP XX.XX.XX.XX, the screen will look like as below:

 

12. Once you enable it, you should see the following message:





Successfully enabled poll logging for <IP Address>



13. Return to the search debug page and collect the polling configuration of the device by typing the IP address, selecting the option "Polling Configuration by IP" and clicking View Data:


14. Save the polling configuration page results



15. Wait for 3 polling cycles (15 minutes if polling cycle is 5 min), go back to Search Debug and type in the IP address of the device, select “Detailed Poll Logging by IP” and click on View Data:

 


16. Likewise, go back to Search Debug and type in the IP address of the device, select “Detailed SNMP Logging by IP” and click on View Data:

 


17. Select Download all logs for IP and View Data
