Missing full rollup patch in UPM though all delta patches are available

The CIC job runs successfully every day. The Job status shows ‘ OK’.  The CIC logs do not have significant errors that can be related to this issue.

SQL Queries for Full Patches  ( e.g.  %1510% or %1509% , %1508%)   shows zero records

        select COUNT(*) from ca_install_package where ipkg_name like '%FULL%1510%' 

        select COUNT(*) from ca_software_def where name like '%FULL%1510%' 


But SQL queries for Delta patches shows all records.

        select COUNT(*) from ca_install_package where ipkg_name like '%DETLA%1510%' 

        select COUNT(*) from ca_software_def where name like '% DELTA %1510%' 


Environment: CA Client Automation - All Versions



Cause: : The problem may happen if for some reason the CIC link was broken and a few patches were missed during the download. 



1.Open \Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\CIC\conf\config.xml using Wordpad

2. Go to the section; <various_control_properties>

And change  <resetContent>false</resetContent>  to  <resetContent>true</resetContent>














3.   Save the config file.

4.   Copy the Baseline folder from the media 

A.   To baseline CIC on the Domain Manager or Enterprise Server, navigate to the "WindowsProductFiles_x86\CIC" folder on the installation media and copy the 'Baseline' folder.

B.   Then paste it in the CA\SC\CIC Folder.     --   Thus creating a CA\SC\CIC\Baseline folder.

5. Trigger the Content Download job to run again.

6. The "Baseline" folder will be deleted upon completion.

Go back to Patch Manager and check if the Full Rollups are available now.

At this point you may see Patch status as 'Not Applicable' or 'New'.  


This happens because UPM Maintenance task has not been run since the patches were downloaded.

By default this service runs at midnight and evaluates the patches against existing inventory, and sets the patch status accordingly.

There is usually no manual intervention required. 


To change the status immediately you can run the Maintenance Service from UPM console using the steps below: 

1.  Go to Administration tab.

2.  Select 'Services' from left pane and click 'Run now' in right window.

(You will probably won't see a status bar but you can see the page respond as it is loading - a  spinning wheel in the IE tab).  


If still patch status does not change from 'Not Applicable', make sure the Asset Management agent is working and the inventory is up-to-date.
