Unknown alert for Nimsoft/UIM models

Issue/Introduction

Once the Nimsoft/UIM integration is enabled you may see the following event on the model where the snmpgtw probe is running:

Unknown alert received from device XXXXXXX of type NimsoftHostServer. Device Time 0+00:00:00. (Trap type 1.3.6.1.4.1.4055.1.6.4) 

Unknown alert received from device XXXXXXX of type NimsoftVMPingable . Device Time 0+00:00:00. (Trap type 1.3.6.1.4.1.4055.1.6.4) 

Environment

Spectrum integrated with UIM

Cause

When the Spectrum receives the traps from the snmpgtw probe, the traps are forwarded to both models, because the EventAdmin and NimsoftHostServer/NimsoftVMPingable models have the same IP address.

As the NimsoftHostServer/NimsoftVMPingable model does not have the Southbound Gateway functionality, the 0x10801 event is generated (Unknown alert received from device)

Resolution

Set the “Disable Trap-Based Events” option under ‘CA Spectrum Modeling Information’ subview of NimsoftHost/NimsoftVMPingable model to Yes.
