To obtain the drivers necessary for the needed SCSI Controller drivers, you need to reconfigure the virtual machine using VMware Converter Standalone.
- Open VMware Converter Standalone.
- Click Configure Machine.
- Point to the newly created virtual machine.
- Deselect all boxes except Reconfigure Destination Virtual Machine.
- Click Next and reconfigure the virtual machine.
- Power on the virtual machine.
- Verify that the blue diagnostic screen disappears.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, try one of these workarounds:
- Change SCSI controller on newly converted VM:
- Power off newly converted VM
- Select newly converted VM in inventory
- Right click on VM and Edit Settings
- Navigate to the SCSI Controller 0
- Change Type to LSI Logic SAS
- Click OK to save changes
- Power on VM
- Boot from the Windows installation DVD:
-
- Insert the Windows DVD in the drive (or select the Windows disc image).
- Start (or restart) the virtual machine.
- When prompted, press any key to boot to the DVD.
- In the language screen, click Next.
- In the Install Windows screen, click Repair your computer.
- Highlight the Windows partition and click Use Recovery Tools that can help fix problems starting Windows.
- Click Next.
- Click Command Prompt.
- Type regedit without quotes.
- Press Enter.
- Update the registry.
Note: This procedure modifies the Windows registry. Before making any registry modifications, ensure that you have a current and valid backup of the registry and the virtual machine. For more information on backing up and restoring the registry, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 136393.
