Issue/Introduction

How to regenerate CA XCOM SSL Sample Certificates on a Machine that already has SSL Certificates.

Environment

CA XCOM Data Transport

Resolution

If you need to run the makeca, makeclient and makeserver scripts again, you must delete the existing certificates

** Be very careful with this **

  1. Manually delete the CERTS & PRIVATE subdirectories that are in the SSL subdirectory under your XCOM install directory.

  2. You also need to delete the following files:

    • all index.* files in the SSL subdirectory

    • all serial.* files in the SSL subdirectory

    • the random.pem files in the SSL subdirectory

  3. At this point you can run the makeca, makeclient and makeserver scripts again.

Additional Information

For CA XCOM Data Transport for z/OS users:

Please make sure to review the XCOM manual, if you intend to convert and import the sample SSL certificates using the makesysssl script. The makesysssl script allows you to change options that may be required to regenerate the certificates.
