Issue/Introduction

How to configure multiple instances of the Workstation on the same Windows installation.
In some cases a server is used by multiple users that need to run the Workstation simultaneously

Environment

All supported DevTest releases.

Cause

N/A

Resolution

• Stop all instances of the Workstation
• Remove any folders in C:\Users\<username>\lisatmp_10.x.x\amq\rpc\2008
• In C:\Program Files\CA\DevTest\bin make a copy of Workstation.exe and name it Workstation2.exe (for example)
• Also make a copy of Workstation.vmoptions and name it Workstation2.vmoptions
• Add the following line in Workstation2.vmoptions and choose a port that is not being used:
  -Dlisa.net.0.port=3008
• After that, one user can use Workstation.exe and another user can use Workstation2.exe

Additional Information

Make sure that the name of the vmoptions file is not Workstation2.vmoptions.txt
The extension should be .vmoptions and not .txt
In Windows Explorer in the View menu, tick 'File name extensions'
That makes it easy to spot this issue.
