Tracing the Centralized Agent Upgrade

Issue/Introduction

If something goes wrong during the Centralized Agent Upgrade, or CAU, how can it be traced?

Resolution

The CAU can only be traced when turning on a trace before going through the upgrade.  Here are the steps to trace this:

  1. Login to client 0
  2. Go to the Administration perspective and to Agents
  3. Right-click the agent you are planning on upgrading and choose Advanced
  4. Change tcp/ip from 0 to 9, confirm that "Memory trace" is not checked and hit Apply
  5. Run the upgrade on the agent

 

If the upgrade is not successful, create a case with Support and send both the agent 01.txt log file and the agent 00.txt log file as well as the agent 00.txt trace file for Support to look at
