Issue/Introduction

Identity Manager (IM) supports "WSS Username Token (Password Text)" authentication for Web Services (TEWS) calls.

With "WSS Username Token (Password Text)" enabled, can Identity Portal (IP) integration still work with Identity Manager?

Environment

Release : 14.4.x

Component : Identity Manager, Identity Portal

Resolution

No. As this article is written, Identity Portal currently does *not* support "WSS Username Token (Password Text)" authentication. If "WSS Username Token (Password Text)" is selected in IM's Web Services property page, then IM Connector in IP is unable to start.

If IP does support "WSS Username Token (Password Text)" in the future, we should have WSS related parameter page in the IM Connector setup pages. So we cannot use IP and, at the same time, "WSS Username Token (Password Text)" authentication for custom Web Services calls.

Additional Information

You have option to utilize "Siteminder Authentication" instead of "WSS Username Token (Password Text)" authentication. Please refer to below Identity Portal's document for more information.
