Component: Datacom/DB
Datacom/AD (AD stands for Application Development) is the relational database management system that provides a relational storage repository for use by other Broadcom Products. The Datacom/AD environment is a subset of the Datacom/DB Database product line. The Datacom/AD storage repository provides significant performance enhancements while ensuring data integrity and allowing concurrent update. Datacom/AD provides its own unique installation , upgrade procedure , JCL, and documentation.
These are the products that use Datacom/AD. If you have the latest version of one of these products, then you probably have Datacom/AD installed, as these products require it for their repository. If you do not have these products, then you would not be able to use Datacom/AD, as it is tuned to this purpose. With AD, you can only create the databases that we, Broadcom, deliver.
However, if you have a need for a database management system where you can create your own user databases for your own in-house application data, and you need a high-performance system that allows concurrent batch and online usage of your data, then you would want to implement the Datacom/DB package, which is the full database manager.
