Issue/Introduction

When trying to save changes to a workflow, sometimes the following error message will be displayed:

Not all object settings could be saved. Please click “Retry” to save again.

Environment

Release : 12.3.4

Component : AUTOMATION ENGINE

Cause

In the AWI logs, there are several error messages about session persistence.

[ERROR] NOSESSION/- NOUI   [.apache.catalina.session.StandardManager] - Exception loading sessions from persistent storage

The Tomcat cache (the /work directory) is extremely large, more than 500MB.

Resolution

To resolve this, clean up the Tomcat cache:

• Stop Tomcat
• Delete the /work directory. Do not save this folder, delete the entire folder. This folder is recreated when Tomcat is restarted.
• Restart Tomcat

Too much data in the /work folder causes pages to constantly be recompiled, adding a performance strain on the system.
