Issue/Introduction

The customer noticed that in their environment this "Evt_NS_Replication_Rule_Objects" table grows up to two billion in a couple of days during Replication.

Currently, the customer truncates this table on a daily basis as a workaround.

Environment

ITMS 8.5 RU4, 8.6, 8.6 RU1

Cause

Known issue.

Resolution

This issue has been reported to our Broadcom Development team. Enhancements to how to purge this table have been added to ITMS 8.6 RU2 release.

A new core setting called "ReplicationJobEventsMode" has been created. When set to "1", it will skip problematic events being generated.

"ReplicationJobEventsMode" coresetting isn't available by default, so the customer needs to add it manually from SMP Console > "Settings" > "All Settings" > "Notification Server" > "Core Settings" page.
If "ReplicationJobEventsMode" = 1 then Complete, Differential, or stand-alone replications will not produce events into "Evt_NS_Replication_Rule_Objects" sql table.

A pointfix for customers with ITMS 8.5 RU4 is available under KB 198337 "CUMULATIVE POST-ITMS 8.5 RU4 POINT FIXES". This pointfix needs to be installed on Parent and Child SMP servers.  You will need to restart the "Altiris Service".
