Issue/Introduction

To upgrade from Datacom/AD 15.0 to 15.1 , first install the Datacom/AD 15.1 software , install all published Datacom maintenance and then perform an Active MUF Upgrade from 15.0 to 15.1.

The process of upgrading the Datacom Datadictionary Version to 15.0 must have been completed before performing a 15.0 to 15.1 active MUF upgrade.

The 15.0 Datacom/AD Multi-User Facility (MUF) should show these messages during startup:

DB00915I - CXX DBID 2 DATA-DICT DEFINITION VERSION 15.0 CHANGE LEVEL 0 

DB00915I - CXX DBID 15 DDD-DATABASE DEFINITION VERSION 15.0 CHANGE LEVEL 0   

In some Datacom/AD MUFs , above messages are not displayed . To check if Datadictionary is version 15.0 , run a DBUTLTY CXX report with SYSIN card REPORT AREA=CXX,DBID=002. 

Look at the report and make sure TABLE NAME - DOC ( OCCURRENCE - DOCUMENT) is found.

Resolution

Before running any configuration jobs, all Datacom/AD PTFs that update CAAXSAMP dataset members must have been installed. 

 

Follow these steps to perform an active MUF upgrade to version 15.1 if not using z/OSMF: 

1. Locate, edit and execute  15.1 CAI.THLQ.CAAXSAMP data set member AXCUS00 but do not save the JCL in CAAXSAMP.. INSTJCL and CUS* data sets are created .
2. Run AXCUS01 from INSTJCL .
3. Run AXCUSACT from INSTJCL.
4. Run ACT.INSTJCL member AXACTUPG.
5. Run ACT.INSTJCL member AXAPFSVW ( if you run SYSVIEW) or AXAPFZOS.
6. Run INSTJCL member AXRIM01 (include the cards from AXRIM01 in your normal CAIRIM job). 
7. Stop the base product that is using the 15.0 MUF, then stop the Datacom/AD 15.0 MUF (use your own job to do that or via MUF z/OS console command EOJ).  
8. Change the MUF startup job to use the new 15.1 CUSMAC members , the 15.1 CUSLIB/CAAXLOAD and start the MUF.
9. Start the base product (like CA 11) again with the new 15.1 CUSLIB/CAAXLOAD.

Additional Information

After the upgrade to version 15.1 the MUF startup still shows version 15.0 in the DB00915I messages since there is no base upgrade for DATA-DICT or DDD-DATABASE when upgrading from version 15.0 to 15.1.

Note that the DB00915I message for CASYSTEMTABLES can show 14.0 or 15.0 ( not 15.1).
