UIM Nimsoft Robot uninstall fails on Windows Server 2019 with Catastrophic failure error

Issue/Introduction

Uninstalling Operator Console for a clean reinstall. 

After running Operator Console uninstall when to the OC robot to run the uninstall for NimBUS Robot and it fails with:

An installation support file could not be installed. 

Catastrophic failure

After manually removing the nimsoft instance the error now pops up when running the robot install. 

Environment

  • UIM 20.3
  • Windows Server 2019 Standard

Cause

This is a known MS Windows issue when the temporary install files get corrupted.

Resolution

Delete this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information\{4337A496-6773-4624-985F-E203E1D08CC9}

Uninstaller location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information\{4337A496-6773-4624-985F-E203E1D08CC9}

This path and folder seem to be the same for all Windows robot installs.

Comparing the files there at the OC robot they match up to another robot instance where the uninstall works.
