Issue/Introduction
When attempting to reinstall the CA Service Desk Manager ODBC services by following the below article, following error is received: [OpenAccess error 3145] The TCP port for the service could not be registered because it is registered for another network service.
Release: CA Business Intelligence 3.x and 4.x for Service Desk Component:
Resolution
The error message is received as a result of the uninstall process not completely removing the Windows reference to the deleted ODBC services.
Follow the instructions in the above article to uninstall the CA SDM ODBC services.
Navigate to the 'Windows\System32\drivers\etc' directory and open SERVICES.INI with a text editor.
Locate the following lines near the bottom of the file and delete them
OA6_19985 19985/tcp # OpenAccess 6 service CA Service Desk Manager ODBC Agent OA6_19987 19987/tcp # OpenAccess 6 service CA Service Desk Manager ODBC Data Access
Save changes to the file.
Proceed to follow the instructions in the above article to reinstall the CA SDM ODBC services.
