Issue/Introduction

We are changing the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the SpectroSERVER and OneClick systems. The hostname will remain the same but the domain name will change. What affect does changing the FQDN have on Spectrum?

Environment

Release : ANY
Component : Spectrum Core

Resolution

Spectrum uses the hostname portion of the FQDN. As long as the hostname portion of the FQDN and the ip address remain the same, there should be no issues.

For example, the current FQDN is "spectrum.ca.com"

The new FQDN will be "spectrum.broadcom.com"

Since the hostname "spectrum" and the IP Address are not changing, this will have no impact on Spectrum.

It is recommended to shutdown the Spectrum processes, change the FQDN and the reboot the system so everything comes up n the new FQDN.

It is recommended to use a local /etc/hosts file (Linux) C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts (Windows) file with the contents of the system's IP Address, FQDN and hostname.

Additional Information

Please reference knowledge article 15981 "How to change the Hostname and/or IP Address of a CA SPECTRUM 10.x SpectroSERVER or OneClick Web Server" if you are changing the ip address or hostname.
