How to change the log level in Enterprise Gateway Components

Resolution

Validation Server
Self Service Portal
VIP Manager IdP
VIP Enterprise Gateway Console

Occasionally it is necessary to increase the verbosity of logs generated for validation servers, the Self Service Portal IdP, the Manager IdP, or VIP Enterprise Gateway console to troubleshoot an issue.

All logs for their respective components can be accessed from the Logs tab found in the main navigation menu of the VIP Enterprise Gateway.

Below are the available logging levels with their definitions. By default, logs are set to the INFO level.

DEBUG The log captures all possible transaction details, including stack traces of all exception events.
INFO The log captures the general details that are needed to track how the server functions.
WARN The log captures details of potentially harmful events: rejected transactions and exception events, which affect the server.
ERROR The log captures details on the events that hinder the server or transaction but allow the server to function (the exception events that affect the server).
AUDIT The log captures details of each and every transaction performed by the administrator such as authentication success and failure, configuration changes.

Note: It is not recommended to leave the logging level set to anything other than INFO permanently as logs can quickly grow in size.
