Issue/Introduction

Can Log Analyzer use the compression dictionary in the log?

Starting with DB2 V11, DB2 improves the availability of previous compression dictionaries by writing them to the log and making them available to data replication, log analysis, and similar tools and products.

Can Log Analyzer read compression dictionaries in the log ?

Environment

z/os DB2

Resolution

Yes Log Analyzer is able to read the dictionary from the log. There is no option for that, the program reads the dictionary automatically, so you don't have to care about it.

However there is a limitation, that the dictionary must be read during the primary log read phase, no subsequent log read collects the dictionary data.
