How does CA Common Service (Viewpoint) interact with the CA7 Web Client and is it a necessary component for the Web Client to function?

ViewPoint is an execution environment running under TSO that supports single or multiple applications executing in multiple windows concurrently.  The advantages are the ability to view, navigate, and pass data automatically between multiple applications. ViewPoint also eliminates the need to constantly LOGON, LOGOFF, or reinvoke these applications. There is extra overhead when using ViewPoint compared to the native application; however, end-user efficiency increases and total system overhead is less compared to manual switching between applications.  CA Viewpoint is a required component for the CA 7 Webclient to function.
