Output Management Web Viewer

Issue/Introduction

The Sysid is a parameter that uniquely identifies the server to CCI.  This is a not a network id, but a name created to identify the server.  It must be unique in the first eight characters.  It is also referred to as the Client System ID.

Why am I getting error message:
Sysid specified in the Configuration File already exists within the CCI network when configuring CCI for Output Management Web Viewer 12.1?

Here is the output:

[Select an option]
Default selection: 1
Select an action:

Testing connection...

Connection failed.

Failure in CCIClient.init()
Return code = 0x0008
Primary RC = 0x0008
Secondary RC = 0x0080
Detail RC = (none)
Error text = Sysid specified in the Configuration File already exists within the CCI network

Cause

Multiple CCI configurations specify the same Client ID (SYSID) so CCI cannot identify the correct server.

Environment

CCISSL CCITCP

Output Management Web Viewer 12.1

WBVLUW

Resolution

The error message is saying that the value specified for the [CCI (Common Communications Interface) Client System ID ] is already in use.  This Client System ID is an name for the Web Viewer Server that is unique in the first 8 characters. It is not a network name; it is a name that you create for the server.

Specify a new unique value for the [CCI (Common Communications Interface) Client System ID ].

Additional Information

The TCPIP.Sysid is an ID used by the CCITCP/CCISSL task as a Virtual PC for its processing and is important.  It should always be designated and be a unique value with no relevance to any system related identifiers, or the other property definitions in both CCIClient.properties and WVProfiile.properties.  It will use up to 8 characters entered and if more than 8 are entered the process will just truncate after the 8th one.  If left blank, it can default to the "machine name" and cause serious processing problems until resolved.
