The client is installing CA Intertest and Symdump batch r 10 on a client’s LPAR. The client needs to know how can they tell if a previous version of CA Symdump batch is running on the LPAR? The client does not see a license key on the LPAR but how can they be sure a version CA Symdump batch is not installed and running on the LPAR?

Resolution

CA Symdump batch must be started under CAIRIM usually at IPL time to hook the dump SVC 51. Please check you CARIM products being started by looking for the CA Symdump batch initialization cards. For example   

 

The release r.8.5  initialization card is  

PRODUCT(CA SymDump Batch) VERSION($Z85) INIT(RX85INIT) 

The release r 9.1  initialization card is  

PRODUCT(CA SYMDUMP BATCH) VERSION($Z91) INIT(RX91INIT)
