When disabling latching (LATCH(N)), does Xmanager Cross Communication also have to be disabled (XSYS(N))? I read somewhere that it did.

Issue/Introduction

This document states whether or not Xmanager Cross Communication should also be disabled when latching is disabled.

When disabling latching (LATCH(N)), does Xmanager Cross Communication also have to be disabled (XSYS(N))? I read somewhere that it did.

Environment

z/OS 1.11 and above.

Resolution

Cross System communication (XSYS) between Xmanagers does not have to be disabled to disable latching.

The document that was read referred to a problem record for PDT 1273. R19 Client's who are running without PTF RO79913 on, r18 without PTF RO79934 & r17 without PTF RO79744, will need to disable both the XSYS & LATCH parameters in order to avoid Low Core storage problems. Otherwise, disabling the cross system communication is not needed.
