Is there a command that can be issued to set a tape to scratch from z/VM ?

To expire a tape today, enter the following command: 

VMTAPE CATALOG volser RETPD 0 (ANYTAPE 

Next, issue command VMTAPE REFRESH to update the pointer and pick list files. 

Additional Information

The VMTAPE CATALOG command will expire the tape making it available for SCRATCH selection.
