Issue/Introduction

Enabling/ using/ disabling/ understanding Action Trace on User Properties page in Clarity UI

Action Tracing (previously called SQL Trace) is needed to troubleshoot certain type of issues, usually it's requested by Support. It will save the sql trace, queries, statements and results(optional) to an xml file.

Currently there is an easy way to enable it from Clarity UI.

Environment

Release : 15.x and higher

Component : All components

Resolution

To enable Action tracing:

  1. Connect to Clarity - Administration - Resources - browse for the resource you're connecting with
  2. Open the resource, in the properties change the value for Action Tracing to Trace Statements which is the default trace option needed, Save
(do NOT use "Trace Statements with Results" unless specifically requested by Broadcom Support)
  3. Log Off, Log back in and reproduce the issue
  4. Retrieve from $clarity/logs, and provide the app-trace.xml and any backup files app-trace.xml.1, app-trace.xml.2, app-trace.xml.3 etc for review
  5. You don't have to disable the trace, it will disable automatically after 5 days, or you can go back and set to Trace Off.

Additional Information
