In the CIA DB2 repository there is a table called ROLEXREF which holds details of connections between users and groups. The Role Type field indicates the type of role.

Here is the breakdown on the five Role types: 

C'P' is TSS PROFILE
C'U' is UID role
C'R' is Base role of userids
C'G' is Group role of roles
C'F' is RACF group
