Issue/Introduction

Is it possible to change the password for a POOL ID ?

Environment

Release: VMSECR00400-3.2-VM:Secure
Component:

Resolution

POOL IDs are not set up or managed like normal user IDs.  They are not meant to be individualized with separate passwords.  They can only be updated using VMSECURE ADMIN POOL.  You can change the password via ADMIN POOL, although the password would be the same for all the pool IDs.

See the IBM CP Planning and Admininstration Guide for more information on the POOL directory statement.  It really is a combination USER (or Identity) and POOL statement that defines it.

Example:

When you enter the following command:

VMSECURE ADMIN POOL VMU

The system generates the following lines in an XEDIT session:

00001 USER VMU AUTOONLY 3M 3M G 64

00002 POOL LOW 00000 HIGH 00002 PROFILE DEFAULT

Note: You must replace the word DEFAULT with an existing PROFILE that at least contains a CONSOLE statement.

Additional Information

If you are really trying to set up a  block of user IDs that will be logged onto separately, you should use the MULTIPLE command to create a group of new

user IDs that will be mostly the same, but can be managed individually also.
