Issue/Introduction

Is updating the /etc/hosts file for a DSS/Fault Tolerant setup mandatory in Spectrum?

Environment

Release: All Spectrum versions

Component: SPCCSS - SpectroSERVER Core

Resolution

It is not mandatory but if communication issues are noticed it is recommended. Sometimes there can be hostname resolution issues with DNS that can cause communication issues and putting in the correct information in the etc/hosts file can "bypass" DNS.

It is recommended to use this format:

IP  hostname  hostname.FQDN

For example:

192.168.10.12 spectrumSS spectrumSS.broadcom.com

Additional Information

SPC-OCA-10360: Connect Lost, Either the server is not running or a network problem is preventing access.
