Issue/Introduction

When navigating to Clarity PPM New / Modern User Experience (UX) Staffing performance page, the load time is extensive. It can take up to 3 minutes or more for the page data to load.

Environment

Release: CODFSS99000-15.4.1-PPM SAAS FedRAMP-Sandbox-Small Environment
Component:

Resolution

This issue is related to granting resource access at the instance or OBS level instead of global level. We recommend the Resource - Soft Book - All right because it allows the project manager to staff any active resources and roles to the project team. You can use the Resource - Soft Book rights at the instance or OBS level, but this practice can reduce the performance of the Staffing portlets.

A couple of things that can help in optimizing performance in the New UX Staffing section:

  1. Add a filter to the portlets on the Staffing page (this would be done by each user when they access the Staffing page). This filter will be retained each time you navigate to the page, and can be modified as needed to receive different results.
  2. Grant the PPM Access right: Resource Soft Book - All at the global level to the resources with the issue

If the above doesn't help:

  • On Premise customers: Have the DBA check to see if there are any slow running queries, if so, using SQL Tuning Advisor can provide recommendations to optimize performance (including rebuilding the execution plan any slow running queries can help resolve the performance issue).
  • PPM SaaS Customers: Contact Broadcom Support for assistance
    • Note: Generating a PPM Action trace while reproducing the issue can help in determining if there are any slow running queries causing the issue (see steps to enable action trace at: KB000009353)
