Issue/Introduction

If you are running release 11.6 of CA Dispatch, the procedures for executing the complete LDS UNLOAD/RELOAD process is discussed in various different areas in the CA Dispatch 11.6 System Programmers Guide. The purpose of this Knowledge Document is to provide a SUMMARY of how to execute the procedure under release 11.6, and point you to the various documentation references for both release 11.6 and release 11.7.

The basic procedure that you will be following to perform the LDS UNLOAD/RELOAD process is documented in the CA Dispatch System Programmers Guide in the section entitled "PROCEDURE FOR REINITIALIZING THE CADDSPL LDS".

Assuming that you want to keep your OLV information, what you will need to do is ADD the OLV/LDS UNLOAD/RELOAD utility jobs into the above documented procedure. These jobs are documented in a different location.

The LDS UNLOAD job is documented in the CA Dispatch System Programmers Guide (Chapter 13: Utilities) in the section entitled "DSEXULD(L) UNLOAD OLV/LDS UTILITY". See this section for details on this process.

The LDS RELOAD job is documented in the CA Dispatch System Programmers Guide (Chapter 13: Utilities) in the section entitled "DSEXRLD RELOAD OLV/LDS UTILITY". See this section for details on this process.

To add the LDS UNLOAD/RELOAD jobs into the complete process:

1. Follow the steps from PROCEDURE FOR REINITIALIZING THE CADDSPL LDS until you reach item #3 where it says ISSUE A STOPCADS. You have to decide at this point if you will be running the DSEXULD or the DSEXULDL "LDS UNLOAD" job.
   
   The DSEXULD job runs with both DISPATCH active and CADZSPLx active.
   The DSEXULDL job runs with DISPATCH DOWN and CADZSPLx active.
   
   * Depending on which of the above jobs you decide to run, the LDS UNLOAD process must be completed before you proceed to item #5 where you will be bringing the CADDSPLx task down.
    
2. After the above LDS UNLOAD has completed, continue to follow the steps from the PROCEDURE FOR REINITIALIZING THE CADDSPL LDS section and complete them all, through and including, item #10 START Dispatch.
    
3. You will be adding item/step #11 to your procedures which is where you will be submitting and executing the LDS RELOAD process, job DSEXRLD.

NOTE - If you are running release 11.7 of CA Dispatch, there is a convenient STEP BY STEP procedure that you can follow to perform the LDS UNLOAD/RELOAD process. These step by step procedures can be found in the CA Dispatch 11.7 System Programmers Guide (Chapter 13: Utilities) in the section entitled "The Unload/Reload Utilities" starting on page 387 and ending on page 391. There are 13 steps for completing the LDS UNLOAD/RELOAD process.

Be sure that you have a report definition of  report=MSGCLASS ; jobname=(BLANK) if you are reloading MSGCLASS data.
When the reload writes MSGCLASS data to the JES spool to be reloaded into CA Dispatch, it will have a report name of MSGCLASS.
You need to verify that you have the definition with View Online=Y so that the MSGCLASS is put back into the LDS as MSGCLASS.
