How to Receive and Apply a Named User Offline License for Agile Designer 2.7+

Issue/Introduction

This document will explain how to:

  • Create an offline license request file for Agile Requirements Designer through the License Activation wizard.
  • Fill out a Customer Care Request form so that our CA licensing team can create a license key for you.
  • Apply your offline license through the License Activation wizard. 

For Agile Designer versions 2.7 and above we have developed an easy to use License Activation Wizard for applying all types of licenses.
When you have named user offline licenses, you will first need to create a license request file, also called an RAC file or WibuCmRaC file.
You will then fill out a license request form on CA Support Online so that the license can be created for your machine based off of the license request file.
Once you receive the new license, you will need to launch the License Activation wizard and apply it through there.

Resolution

Create an Offline license request file through the License Activation wizard:

If you have already created your license request file, please skip to the next set of instructions labeled 'Fill out license request form'. 
 

  1. Launch Agile Requirements Designer (ARD). 
    • If this is your first time using ARD, you will receive an error message saying 'No license found'. Click on the 'Activate' button. 

    • If you are able to access ARD, go to the 'Help' tab and click on the 'Licence Wizard' icon.

  2. The 'License Activation' wizard will be launched. Click the 'Next' button.

  3. Choose the radio button for 'Named' licenses and click the 'Next' button.

  4. Choose the radio button for 'Offline license request' and click the 'Next' button.
  5. In the 'Generate a License Request File' window, click the 'Browse' button.

  6. Browse to a location where you would like to save the file. In the 'File name' text box, type in a license request file name, and click the 'Save' button.

  7. In the 'Generate a License Request File' window, you should see the file path to where you saved the file and name of your license request ending in WibuCmRaC. Click the 'Next' button.
  8. You should receive a message saying 'License request file generated'. Click the knowledge base article link, then click the 'Finish' button.
  9. Now you will need to follow the next set of instructions in order to fill out a license file request form. 

 

Fill out license request form: 

  1. Go to and login to Broadcom Support Portal: https://support.broadcom.com/
    • If you do not have a Support Online account, please register or call 1-800-225-5224 for assistance.

  2. OPen a support case to request a new license filePlease indicate your relationship with CA: (CA Customer, CA Employee, Other)
  3. CA SiteID: If you do not know this, please call 1-800-225-5224 or contact CA Support at https://support.broadcom.com/
    • Request Type: CA Licensing
    • First Name:
    • Last Name:
    • Company Name:
    • Company Address:
    • Country:
    • City:
    • State/Province:
    • Postal/Zip Code:
    • Telephone Number:
    • Corporate Email Address:
    •  
  4. Fill out the following 'Details' information:
    • Type of License: General Licensing for All Other Products
    • Your Question: Require Offline license for CA Agile Requirements Designer. 
    • Product Name: CA Agile Requirements Designer (Agile Designer)
    • Release: 2.7 (or whichever version you are currently using)
    • Type of Licensing: All Other Keys
    • Do you have any files to attach to this case?: Yes.
    • Please check and follow the instructions below: Check box for 'I'm not a robot'. 
       
  5. Click the 'Choose File' button and then the 'Attach' button to upload your WibuCmRaC license request file to your license request form. 

     
  6. Click the 'Close' button once done. A member of our customer care (licensing) team will create the offline license key you require and email you within 24 hours. 
  7. Once you have the offline license key, follow the next set of instructions.
     

Apply the offline license through the License Activation wizard:

 

  1. Launch the License Activation wizard as before. Click the 'Next' button.
  2. Choose the radio button for 'Named' licenses and click the 'Next' button.
  3. Choose the radio button for 'Offline license import' and click the 'Next' button.
  4. In the 'Import a License Update File' window, click the 'Browse' button.
  5. Browse to a location where you would like to save the file. In the 'File name' text box, type in a license request file name, and click the 'Save' button.
  6. In the 'Import a License Update File' window, you should see the file path to where you saved the file and name of your license request ending in WibuCmRaC. Click the 'Next' button.
  7. You should receive a message saying 'Confirmation of License Activation' and 'You have successfully activated your license'. Check the box to launch ARD and click the 'Finish' button. 
     
  8. If ARD is launched without error, then the license has been successfully activated. You can view your license information by going to the 'Help' tab and click on the 'Licence Information' icon.
