Issue/Introduction

From Admin Console, keep getting a MONS-021 "ppm not running error" reported when trying to open a probe Configuration page any probe deployed on a secondary hub that is directly connected to the primary hub (no hub tunnel involved) even though the ppm probe is running (has a PID and a port).

Why do you get a MONS-021 "ppm not running" error when trying to open the Configuration page for any probe installed on a hub that is directly connected to the primary hub where the Admin Console wasp is running (no hub tunnel between the two hubs)?

Resolution

Things to check for when you receive the MONS-021 "ppm not running" error:

1.  The GA release of the ppm probe is deployed and running on any/all  hubs in your UIM domain where there are probes that you want to configure from the Admin Console
2.  If there is no hub tunnel involved, make sure all UIM ports are opened between the hub where the Admin Console wasp is running and the hub where the probes you need to configure are installed.  A symptom of a blocked port would be no messages recorded in the ppm.log file on the secondary hub at loglevel 5 when the ppm probe port is blocked.
