CA Privileged Access Manager (PAM)

Issue/Introduction

Licenses for new PAM appliances generally are obtained via self-service, see article Generate license key for CA Privileged Access Manager (PAM) on the Broadcom Support Portal. This requires a Hardware ID string as input.

In some cases, specifically in cluster environments with a long upgrade history, existing licenses may be incompatible with those that this service provides, and there may be a problem updating all existing PAM servers with self-service licenses. In order to generate a compatible custom license for a new PAM server appliance that is to be added to an existing cluster, you would need to engage Broadcom Global Customer Assistance and provide a System Info file (aka sysinfo file).

This article shows how to obtain the Hardware ID, and also how to generate the sysinfo file from within the PAM User Interface.

Resolution

  1. Login to the PAM GUI (Graphical User Interface) as an Administrator such as "super".
  2. Click on the 'System Info' link in the top right corner to bring up the System Info pane.

  3. The Hardware ID can be found under the Hardware Identifiers tab.

  4. To save the sysinfo file for a custom license request, click on the downward arrow icon in the right top corner of the System Info pane.

Additional Information

In the sysinfo file the Hardware ID is the hexadecimal string labelled "Firmware Serial:".
