Issue/Introduction

We have performance using Concurrent Copy used by CA Disk BACKUPCC. How can we increase them?

Due to a huge number of ZFS files never backup as they are always open, the solution is to use CA Disk BACKUPCC which calls Concurrent Copy to perform this.

Environment

z/OS

Resolution

To get better performance in using Concurrent Copy with CA Disk you need to:

- Check if you may separate the number of ZFS to backup in several jobs

- Run them in parallel or sequentially depending on your CPU power

- Use a system where you will have more CPU and memory

- Do it at a low activity period

All of these depends on the size of data to backup, but using such powerful system can reduce a lot the elapse time consumed.

Another to verify is that IBM PTF OA66423 is applied.
