Specify the field be to updated and update attribute.

Using online DDOL:
ENTMAINT (SET MODE ENTM) DATADICTIONARY Entity Maintenance 

UPDATE FIELD (U FIE) Maintain record/key/element fields 

UPDATE ATTRIBUTE (U ATT) Update occurrence attributes 

Using batch DDUPDATE: 

-UPD FIELD tablename.fieldname(version) 
1500 DEFAULT-INSERT,value 
-END
