Issue/Introduction

The Policy Xpress "Task Session Attribute" function is designed to retrieve specific session-related data. However, the tasksessionid attribute is not currently supported by this function and will not return a value. This article details the available retrievable attributes and provides a workaround for retrieving the Task Session ID.

Environment

Identity Manager

Cause

The tasksessionid attribute is not natively exposed by the "Task Session Attribute" PX function.

Resolution

1. Retrievable Task Session Attributes

Engineering has confirmed that the following attributes can be successfully retrieved from the task session using the "Task Session Attribute" PX function:

  • submitted
  • audited
  • approved
  • primary_complete
  • pre_tasks_complete

Note: Retrieving task status (e.g., Completed, Failed) is not supported via attribute retrieval. Instead, configure a SubmittedTask PX Policy to trigger on specific task events (Completed or Failed).

2. Workaround: Retrieving Task Session ID

To retrieve the Task Session ID, use a UI-type PX policy. This is evaluated at the screen (UI) level and does not require persistence to a physical attribute.

Steps:

  1. Add a screen logical attribute to the task's profile screen.
  2. Apply the following Initialization JavaScript to the attribute:
function init(FieldContext) {    FieldContext.setValue(FieldContext.getSessionId());}
  1. Configure a UI-type PX policy to retrieve the value of this screen logical attribute.
