Issue/Introduction

The SpectroSERVER installed on Linux is crashing at startup with the following error:

SPC-OCP-10049: SPECTROSERVER PROCESS TERMINIATED WITH SEGMENTATION VIOLATION

No core file is created. The VNM.OUT file is zero bytes long.

Environment

Spectrum running on Linux

Cause

The SpectroSERVER was started by launching the Spectrum Control Panel (SCP) from the MLS and then selecting "File->Select Host Machine" and selecting one of the other SpectroSERVER systems in the Distributed SpectroSERVER environment. Then, clicking on the Start SpectroSERVER button.

Resolution

Either launch the SCP from the system where you are going to start the SpectroSERVER process or run the $SPECROOT/bin/startSS.pl script.
