Issue/Introduction

You can use the Windows Task Scheduler to schedule a task for delaying the start of the UIM robot. Sometimes this is necessary for 1 or more machines that are having trouble starting up after server reboot.

Environment

- DX UIM 20.4.x or later

- Windows Servers

Cause

- Robot watcher service may not start after Windows Update/patching

Resolution

1. Set startup type of "Nimsoft Robot Watcher" service to "Manual".

2. Create a task for delayed start up of the "Nimsoft Robot Watcher" service.

  • Open "Task Scheduler" from "Control Panel" -> "System and Security" -> "Administrative Tools"
  • In the "Task Scheduler Library", right click and "Create New Task", DO NOT use the "Basic Task"

  • Name the new task, and check "Run whether user is logged on or not"

  • Create Trigger and choose "Begin the task" as "At startup" and in the "Advanced settings," check "Delay task for:" 5 minutes.

  • In the "Actions" tab, Enter an Action as "Start a program", choose the location of "nimbus.exe", which is typically at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Nimsoft\bin."
  • Also need to "Add arguments (optional)":  -start

  • The Actions screenshots should appear as follows:
