Issue/Introduction

Speed up IEFBR14 with DISP=(?????,DELETE) processing by uncataloging an archived data set instead of restoring it by DMSAR and then uncataloging it.

Environment

Release: SMDI3900200-12.5-Disk-Backup and Restore-for z/OS
Component:

Resolution

If you do the following per the IBM instructions CA Disk will not start a DMSAR for a data set cataloged to ARCIVE when using IEFBR14 with DISP=(?????,DELETE), instead the data set will be uncataloged from ARCIVE:

  1. Specify IEFBR14_DELMIGDS(NORECALL) in ALLOCxx of SYS1.PARMLIB

    OR

  2. Issue SETALLOC SYSTEM,IEFBR14_DELMIGDS=NORECALL from SDSF SYSLOG PANNEL

This will speedjob processing and save CPU cycles.

Note: The DSNINDEX record will continue to be processed by normal IXMAINT processing rules.
