How to move custom views from CA WA DE Desktop Client 11.3 to R12

Issue/Introduction

When moving from CA WA DE R11.3 to R12, the users may also want to move their custom views in Monitor perspective.

How to move custom views from CA WA DE Desktop Client 11.3 to R12?

Environment

CA Workload Automation Desktop Client 11.3
CA Workload Automation Desktop Client 12.x

Resolution

To move the custom monitor views, login (or work offline) in to the 11.3 Desktop Client and open Monitor Perspective

1.  On the top, click on File and then Export

 

2.  Select Custom Views in the Pop-up Window

3.  Click on Next, and then in next window, select all the views you want to export.

 

4.  Then enter the location and file name to save the views.  You can also click on Browse and enter the file name.
5.  Click on Finish

To import the views, login in to the R12 Desktop Client and open Monitor Perspective

1.  On the top, click on File and then Import

                                                               

2.  Select Custom Views in the Pop-up Window
3.  Click on Next, and then in next window, enter path and filename or user Browse to navigate to the file that has the exported views.
4.  Select all the views that you want to import.  Select all the views you want to preserve.

                                                                                                                          

Note: You can only import views with names that do not exist in current Desktop Client.

Each view must have a unique name.

5.  Click on Finish

Note: Before importing the views, it is recommended to backup the default or existingviews of R12 Desktop Client by exporting them.
